Safe Battery Disposal

Today, batteries power our laptops, smartphones, power tools, e-scooters, remote controls, smoke detectors, many children’s toys, and even your singing greeting cards. Batteries can store an immense amount of energy in a very small space. This means it is crucial that batteries NOT get thrown in the trash or recycling.

The Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Council hosted a Battery Collection event on Sept 19 at the township building. Many people brought in their old lithium-ion and nickel cadmium batteries for safe recycling. If you missed the event, look to local retailers like Home Depot, Staples or Best Buy as a safe way of disposing of your used batteries. Learn more about battery safety
