Our Mission: The Code Department will protect the health, safety, welfare, natural resources and
historic resources of the Township to promote and improve the quality of life for all residents in accordance with the
Township vision statement and applicable plans and ordinances.
Our Vision: Who we are is the possibility of being the premier code department in Chester County by
providing courteous, informed interaction with our customers and fair, even enforcement of the ordinances we are charged
to uphold.
Our Promises: We promise to provide accurate, timely information to all customers at their request. We
promise to respect each customer as an individual and treat them with dignity and integrity. We promise to be on time.
We promise to evenly and fairly enforce applicable ordinances without regard to race, creed, color, national origin,
sex, age, economic status, handicap or religious preference. We promise to do our utmost to assist residents and other
stakeholders in being compliant with applicable ordinances. The purpose of the Building Code is to provide minimum
requirements to safeguard the public safety, health and general welfare through affordability, structural strength,
means of egress, stability, sanitation, light and ventilation, energy conservation and the safety of life and property
from fire and other hazards. The East Goshen Zoning Ordinance is intended promote and protect the public health and
safety, prevent overcrowding of land, blights, congestion, and provide for various types of residential, commercial and
industrial uses to further the goals and objectives set forth in the Township Comprehensive Plan and to encourage the
